  • At Willowbrook Farm, we use modern compost toilets as part of our commitment to sustainability and caring for the land.

These toilets are clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed — they are not smelly and are cleaned regularly throughout the day. Each space is stocked with fresh hand towels, natural soap, and gentle incense, creating a calm and pleasant experience.

Many guests are surprised by how comfortable and easy they are to use.

  • Compost toilets are a low-impact, regenerative alternative to conventional flush toilets.

    🌍 Key Environmental Benefits:

    1. Save Large Amounts of Water
A standard toilet can use up to 9 litres of drinking-quality water per flush. Compost toilets use no water at all, helping protect one of our most precious resources.

    2. Prevent Pollution
Traditional sewage systems rely on chemicals and energy-intensive treatment. Compost toilets keep waste out of waterways and help protect rivers, groundwater, and wildlife.

    3. Support Healthy Soil
When managed correctly, composted waste becomes a valuable resource that returns nutrients safely to the soil, closing the natural loop rather than creating waste.

    4. Lower Carbon Footprint
No flushing, pumping, or treatment plants means far less energy use — reducing emissions and supporting a lighter footprint on the land.

  • There is no mains power inside the bell tents. We encourage you to see this as an opportunity to experience a digital detox but ultimately that is of course your own decision. If you do need to recharge your devices we recommend bringing a fully charged power bank. All the bell tents have exterior solar powered fairy lights for your safety at night. They also have battery operated pole lights in warm white for ambient room lighting. The bedside table has a rechargeable usb reading light with 2 settings, one bright for reading and one dimmed.

We do recommend bringing a torch or head torch for navigating to the toilets at night.

  • All meals will be complimentary and include breakfast, lunch and dinner. The first night, dinner will be provided by Willowbrook Farm in the cafe giving you an opportunity to meet the family living on the farm. On day 2 and 3 all meals will be homemade by our wonderful retreat chef, Sarah. Ingredients will be sourced locally, where possible, supporting small scale food producers in the local area. Meals will be healthy and primarily vegetarian except some meat options from the farm on the first night for non-vegetarians. Please let us know of any dietary requirements, allergies, or specific preferences at the time of booking. Please see the retreat page for further information about menus.

  • The farm has compost toilets and solar showers reflecting the ethos of sustainability at the farm. These facilities are provided by Willowbrook Farm not Enwild. Towels are provided upon request at the time of booking.
